Nová reprezentativní fotografická publikace o současném Berouně vychází při příležitosti oslav 750. výročí první písemné zmínky o městě. Autory fotografií jsou berounští tvůrci Vladimír Kasl, Jiří Semrád a Zdeněk Zůna, autorem doprovodných textů je berounský básník a textař Jan Velíšek. Ten ve svém úvodním slově mimo jiné uvádí: „Milí čtenáři, dostáváte do ruky knihu o Berouně, městě, které v roce 2015 slaví 750 let písemně doložené existence. Na město to není nijak kritický věk; známe i starší, a některá vypadají docela dobře. My Berouňáci máme své město pochopitelně rádi. A měli bychom radost, kdyby je měli rádi i ti, kteří se sem zrovna přistěhovali, a také všichni hosté, ať už jsou důvody jejich návštěvy ekonomické, turistické, nebo jde o pouhou náhodu. Takže, máte-li chuť a čas, obujte si pomyslné poutnické střevíce a nechte se obrazem i slovem provést dnešním Berounem, a trochu také jeho historií. Šťastnou cestu!“
Současná starostka města Šárka Endrlová ve svém vyznání v knize píše: „Jsem moc ráda, že vám můžu touto cestou nabídnout knížku o Berouně, městě, které jsem si vybrala pro život své rodiny a moc si ho zamilovala. Myslím, že jejím autorům se podařilo najít způsob, jak naše město představit těm, kteří v něm nežijí, i těm, kteří jsou přesvědčeni, že ho znají jako své boty. Ti první získají díky této knize aspoň základní představu, jak Beroun vypadá, ti druzí tu třeba objeví i místa, o nichž neměli dosud ani tušení, nebo nové pohledy na to, kolem čeho už někdy chodí se slepou samozřejmostí.“
Kniha obsahuje překlad veškerých doprovodných textů také do německého a anglického jazyka.

You are holding in your hands a book on Beroun – a city that in 2015 is celebrating 750 years of its existence as documented by the first written records about it. It is not a critical age for a city – there are older ones and some of them look quite good.
Naturally, we, the inhabitants of Beroun, love our town. And we will be happy if those who have just moved here as well as all those who visit it love it too, no matter what reasons they have for their visit – whether they come on business, as tourists or whether they are just accidentally passing through.
So, if you have the time and feel like it, put on your imaginary walking shoes and go on a tour to experience present-day Beroun and some of its history in words and pictures.

I believe that the authors have managed to find the right way to introduce our town to those who do not live there as well as to those who are convinced they know it through and through. Wir Berouner mögen unsere Stadt begreiflicherweise. Und wir würden uns freuen, wenn auch diejenigen, die gerade hierhergezogen sind und auch alle Gäste, die aus wirtschaftlichen oder touristischen Gründen oder nur rein zufällig hier weilen, sie mögen.

Liebe Leser, ich freue mich sehr, Ihnen auf diesem Wege ein Buch über Beroun, über jene Stadt anbieten zu können, die ich für meine Familie als Heimatort wählte, und in die ich mich wirklich verliebt habe.
Ich glaube, dass es den Autoren des Buches in richtiger Weise gelungen ist, unsere Stadt all jenen Menschen vorzustellen, die hier nicht leben, jedoch auch denjenigen, die der Überzeugung sind, die Stadt wie ihre „Westentasche“ zu kennen. Die Ersten erhalten durch dieses Buch zumindest eine grundlege Vorstellung, wie Beroun aussieht, während die Letztgenannten vielleicht Ecken und Winkel entdecken, deren Existenz sie bisher nicht einmal geahnt haben, oder an denen sie mitunter mit blinder Selbstverständigkeit achtlos vorbeigehen. Gemeinsam entschieden wir uns, ein offenes und wahrhaftiges Bild der Berouner Gegenwart zu vermitteln, sodass Sie auch Orte sehen, die für uns Berouner eine Herausforderung darstellen.
Ich wünsche Ihnen somit einen angenehmen Spaziergang, auf dem Sie das nette Wort des in Beroun geborenen Textautors und Redakteurs Jan Velíšek begleitet.
